What Health Care Professionals Need to Know about Human Trafficking
Presented By: Joy Washburn, EdD, RN, WHNP-BCResearch with survivors of human trafficking in the USA indicates that approximately 50% of them interacted with health care providers at least once during the time they were enslaved. However, the vast majority of health care providers are not trained to recognize the signs of human trafficking in these patients. This presentation is designed to raise awareness of human trafficking within the ranks of all health care providers so that victims can be identified, ways and means of escape can be presented, and they can become survivors instead of victims.
